14/2 Landscape Wire

The 14/2 landscape wire is best used in smaller setups with fewer fixtures, specifically it’s best for setups that need 100 feet or less of wiring. You can also use it in a tiny cluster of fixtures that don’t require as much power, such as deck or accent lighting. The thinner wire requirements also make the cable more lightweight, making it easier to handle during the installation process.

We recommend burying the wire at least 6 inches deep. This prevents any tripping hazards while also ensuring that the wiring is fully underground and safe from any potential damage. However, flooding or rainy weather can potentially shift the dirt and force the wiring up above the ground.

Whether it’s too many fixtures or a distance greater than 100 feet, you’ll start to see voltage drops across multiple lights if you continue using 14/2 landscape wires. This is because a thicker gauge wire is needed to handle a larger system across larger areas without any voltage issues.

You will need to find the right connector based on the wire’s gauge size. We also recommend silicon-filled waterproof connectors to increase the cable’s lifespan and protect the exposed copper from potential moisture over time.
