What’s the difference between M12 and M18 batteries?

As the numbers suggest, M12 and M18 batteries use 12 and 18 volts, respectively. The M12 batteries are more for Milwaukee’s portable tool lineup, which aims to replace simple hand tools. The M18 power tool batteries, on the other hand, are for more powerful tools such as saws, mowers, and blowers. However, you will find a wide range of tools that have M12 and M18 variants.

Do I need to use a specific power tool charger for Milwaukee batteries?

While there isn’t a specific model, we do recommend using Milwaukee’s own power tool battery changes, which are specifically made for the M12 and M18 batteries. We sell Milwaukee’s charging station, which charges both M12 and M18 batteries. However, there are also other Milwaukee charging stations, which provide faster charging, allowing you to quickly get back to projects without wasting valuable time.

How many batteries do I need for my tools?

You can get away with one battery for every tool, but for extended use, we recommend having two batteries so that you can quickly switch and continue working rather than waiting for your only battery to charge before going back to your project.

Can I use a third-party battery for a Milwaukee power tool?

We don’t recommend using a third-party battery for Milwaukee power tools because their voltage might be different than what’s acceptable for the tool itself. It’s also important to use the batteries on a regular basis. Long periods of inactivity can result in eventual discharge, giving you less energy to work with when you insert the battery.
