Not all electrical outlets are waterproof. For outdoor electrical outlets, this means that you might need to install protective shrouding over the outlets to protect the outlet itself and any plugged-in devices during inclement weather. When buying outside electrical outlets, check the packaging and product specifications to see if the outlet has any specific weatherproof features, such as shrouds or twist locks.

We usually recommend maintenance in between seasons or after bad weather. Even with the coverings, you should check to see if any dust or moisture made its way into the outlet. Foreign particles, even if they’re small, can easily disrupt power distribution and can even wreak long-term damage on your entire setup.

How do I prevent overloading my outdoor electrical outlet?

A good rule of thumb is not to have multiple extensions on a single cord, as this can easily overload a circuit and damage the outlet, wires, and connected fixtures. Before turning on the power, add up the total wattage of the connected lights and see if they are within the limits specified by the outlet.

Can I leave my Zafferano charging carpets outdoors?

We don’t recommend leaving the charging carpets outside because they do not have any IP ratings whatsoever. Moisture, dirt, or debris can be stuck onto the pad and reduce its effectiveness or damage it completely.

Are the outdoor lighting chargers compatible with all wireless lights?

The lighting chargers we offer are only compatible with the Zafferano lineup of fixtures, which have a special 3-pin input on the charging platform. However, your other wireless lights with USB-based inputs can be used across a variety of generic chargers.
