While these considerations seem like common sense, they are even more important for those who have trouble moving around spaces or need more guidance when moving around at night.

Using this example, a 9-foot ceiling should have hanging pendant lights between 15 and 23 inches from the ceiling. You can also use this rule for lower ceilings, so a 6-foot ceiling should have a hanging height of 9 - 17 inches.
